چکیده

The genus Ocotea of the Lauraceae family has species whose wood is employed in construction and for other purposes including as biofuel, disinfection, cosmetics, treatment various diseases. Studies regarding caudata’s phytochemical pharmacognostic uses are scarce, thus, this work first to study its fruits. O. caudata (Nees) Mez fruits from Colombia were investigated their oil content. Heptane extraction fruit yielded 54.9 % total lipids, where fatty acid composition was determined. analysis by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID) demonstrated that lauric most abundant (51.7 %, C12:0). In addition acid, oleic (23.6 C18:1) palmitic (16.6 C16:0) found. confirmed chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). can be considered a accumulates medium-chain saturated acids (C12) long-chain unsaturated (C18). conclusion, many health benefits may due high content acid. Therefore, highly regarded nutritional properties.

APORPHINE ALKALOIDS FROM Ocotea macrophylla (LAURACEAE)

Four aporphine alkaloids from the wood of Ocotea macrophylla (Lauraceae) were isolated and characterized as (S)-3-methoxynordomesticine (1), (S)-N-ethoxycarbonyl-3-methoxy-nordomesticine (2), (S)-N-formyl-3-methoxy-nordomesticine (3) and (S)N-methoxycarbonyl-3-methoxy-nordomesticine (4); alkaloids 2-4 are being report for the first time. The structure the isolated compounds were determined base...

Involvement of monoaminergic system in the antidepressant-like effect of riparin I from Aniba riparia (Nees) Mez (Lauraceae) in mice.

In past studies conducted by our group, riparin I (rip I) isolated from the green fruit of Aniba riparia presented antianxiety effects in mice, while its analogs rip II and III showed anxiolytic and antidepressant-like actions. This time around, we investigated a possible antidepressant activity of rip I using the forced swimming test (FST) and tail suspension test (TST) as predictive tests for...

Essential oil of trees of the genus Ocotea (Lauraceae) in Costa Rica. I. Ocotea brenesii.

The chemical composition of the essential oils from leaves and wood of Ocotea brenesii Standl. growing wild in Costa Rica was determined by capillary GC/FID and GC/MS. From the leaves, 64 compounds were identified, corresponding to 85.9% of the oil, and from the wood 57 compounds were identified corresponding to 69.0% of the oil. The major constituents identified in the leaf oil were alpha-copa...
